President Donald Trump threatened legal action against authors and media outlets that use "anonymous sources," calling them "defamatory fiction" and suggesting they don't "even exist."
In a Truth Social post on Wednesday, Trump expressed outrage over books and news articles citing anonymous sources, claiming that many of these sources "largely do not exist."
The president warned that he might sue authors, publishers and media organizations to expose what he calls "blatant dishonesty" and suggested that his administration might introduce a new law to prevent such reporting.
"At some point I am going to sue some of these dishonest authors and book publishers, or even media in general, to find out whether or not these 'anonymous sources' even exist, which they largely do not. They are made up, defamatory fiction, and a big price should be paid for this blatant dishonesty," Trump said.
