Psaki: Biden's call to Doocy 'speaks for itself'

White House press secretary Jen Psaki briefly addressed President Joe Biden's profane Monday exchange with Fox News reporter Peter Doocy.

While sitting in front of a microphone, Biden called Doocy a "stupid son of a b****" for asking about inflation and the midterm elections following a meeting of the White House competition committee on Monday night. Biden later called Doocy to apologize Monday night.

Psaki, asked during Tuesday's White House press briefing about the incident, said she was only comfortable speaking on the "private conversation with the president" because Doocy was in the room and had previously confirmed the call himself.

"Peter spoke to this. The president called him, he conveyed to him that it was 'nothing personal, man' and also acknowledged that all of you are going to ask him a range of questions," she said. "So I think that speaks for itself."
