The New York State Assembly is nearing the conclusion of its impeachment investigation into Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the sexual misconduct allegations against him.
Judiciary Chairman Charles Lavigne announced Wednesday that independent lawyers informed the governor’s counsel that “the Committee’s investigation is nearing completion.”
“The Assembly will soon consider potential articles of impeachment against your client,” the statement read. “Accordingly, we invite you to provide any additional evidence or written submissions that you would like the Committee to consider before its work concludes.”
If the State Assembly votes by simple majority to remove Cuomo from office, the impeachment trial would move to a High Court of Impeachment.
