McConnell, Other Prominent GOP Senators Face Criticism for Soft Response to Mar-A-Lago Raid

Upon the release of the news of the FBI raid of former President Donald Trump’s home in Florida, political figures from across the spectrum have chimed in with their two cents. Many figures, even some on the political left, were quick to point out the unprecedented nature of a currently unpopular administration using its law enforcement arm to raid the private residence of a former President. Many echoed the former President’s sentiment that America is descending into third world levels of corruption.

While many Republicans were quick to condemn the acts of the Biden DOJ and FBI, some didn’t seem to grasp the significance of the situation. Particularly significant examples of this came from some Senate Republicans.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) was one of the few who initially pointed out how this particular situation was not just “politics as usual,” but that a line had been crossed.
