Harvard University, an institution once lauded for its academic prestige, is now facing a severe reckoning. Today, the Joint Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism announced that the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has concluded its investigation into antisemitism on campus, finding Harvard in “violent violation” of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.
This federal mandate prohibits discrimination based on race, color, and national origin.
The scathing Notice of Violation details a disturbing pattern of deliberate indifference and, in some cases, willful participation by Harvard in the antisemitic harassment of its Jewish students, faculty, and staff.
This comes on the heels of the Supreme Court’s 2023 ruling in Students for Fair Admission v. Harvard, which already noted the university’s “regrettable distinction” as a “breeding ground for race discrimination.”
