Michigan Governor Candidate Who Attended Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol Rally Defends ‘Peaceful Protesters’ at Event

Michigan gubernatorial candidate Ryan Kelley appeared on Big League Politics Live to discuss what he saw while attending the Jan. 6 rally around the U.S. Capitol and his subsequent harassment by Democrats and the far-left media.

Kelley noted that no feds have come to his door for peacefully protesting outside of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, but that hasn’t stopped liberals from calling for him to be arrested for demonstrating his 1st Amendment rights.

“They claim that they have a video footage of me at the Capitol on Jan. 6, saying that, ‘This is war, baby!’, and they had this whole big long article that they put together, this smear piece,” Kelley said.

“The article started off by them making false claims saying that there were several police officers who were killed that day, and that has already been debunked multiple times months ago. So they started off with fake news at the beginning of the article,” he continued.

“And the video clip that they’re talking about as well, I have shown many people, and it is absolutely not my voice that says that, and that is very well-known that they are putting words and a narrative out that is absolutely false,” Kelley added.

He noted that the Left is playing a dangerous game by attempting to paint all Jan. 6 protesters, even ones who committed no violence, as terrorists and insurrectionists.

“We wanted to have an election audit, basically, and we wanted to have our voices heard. We were there to be heard and have our government address things we have grievances about,” Kelley said of the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol protest.

“There were a lot of peaceful protesters. There were a lot of energetic protesters… And I did see a lot of people too who the police maced their faces, they shot them with the flashbombs. There was a lot of conflict,” he added – noting that it was the authorities who initiated most of the violence and made the protest become “heated.”
