On Thursday, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) said Americans will be "shocked" and "appalled" when members of Congress release an interim report on the security failures that led to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump in July at the Butler, Pennsylvania rally.

Blumenthal didn't elaborate on what he and other lawmakers had learned during a closed-door meeting Thursday with acting US Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe, who provided senators with an update on the investigation into the failed assassination.
