On Thursday, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) said Americans will be "shocked" and "appalled" when members of Congress release an interim report on the security failures that led to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump in July at the Butler, Pennsylvania rally.
Blumenthal told Fox News, "I think the American people are going to be shocked, astonished, and appalled by what we will report to them about the failures by the Secret Service in this assassination attempt on the former president. But I think they also ought to be appalled and astonished by the failure of the Department of Homeland Security to be more forthcoming, to be as candid and frank, as it should be to them in terms of providing information."
Blumenthal didn't elaborate on what he and other lawmakers had learned during a closed-door meeting Thursday with acting US Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe, who provided senators with an update on the investigation into the failed assassination.
